Meet the Photographer
Hi, I’m Melanie—a wedding and portrait photographer serving the Outer Banks, Elizabeth City, Edenton, Camden, Chesapeake, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach areas, with a heart for travel and storytelling wherever your moments unfold. I grew up in the Catskills of upstate New York (yes, the Dirty Dancing mountains), later moved to Florida where I met my husband, and eventually settled in the Carolinas. After getting married and buying our first home, I turned my lifelong passion for photography into a full-time business in 2023. I specialize in Outer Banks weddings, coastal beach sessions, and senior portraits for high school and college students. Whether you’re saying “I do” on the beach, visiting the coast for a family vacation, or celebrating a major milestone, I focus on capturing natural, timeless, light and airy images that feel true to you. Having planned my own wedding, I understand how important it is to feel comfortable in front of the camera. My clients often describe me as calm, encouraging, and easy to work with—someone who helps them feel fully present while I document the moments that matter most. When I’m not photographing, you’ll find me traveling, hiking, kayaking, or spending time with my two Golden Retrievers, Appa and Eevee, who are my heart and inspiration for a future Golden Retriever rescue.
Travel fuels my creativity, and I’ve made it a goal to visit one new country and one new state every year. When I’m not photographing weddings, you’ll find me hiking, kayaking, or spoiling my two Golden Retrievers, Appa and Eevee, who are my heart and soul (and the inspiration for my dream of starting a Golden Retriever rescue someday).
Oh, and I’m almost always wearing blue—so consider me your built-in “something blue” on your wedding day.
